Role Summary
The PeopleSoft Administrator is responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, cloning, security administration, and production support of PeopleSoft environments. The role ensures the availability, stability, security, and performance of PeopleSoft applications across development, test, and production landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
Environment Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain PeopleSoft environments across the landscape.
- Administer web servers, application servers, process schedulers, integration gateways, and search framework (Elastic/OpenSearch).
- Perform environment refreshes, cloning, and configuration management.
Upgrade & Maintenance
- Execute PeopleTools upgrades, PUM image maintenance, patch deployment, and security updates.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance windows, backups, and release deployments.
- Apply best practices for change control and environment consistency.
Performance & Automation
- Monitor system health, utilization, and batch performance; troubleshoot bottlenecks.
- Perform application and server tuning and optimize SQL for large-scale workloads.
- Automate administrative workflows using Unix/Linux shell scripting with error handling, logging, and scheduling (cron / enterprise schedulers).
Security & Support
- Administer user provisioning, roles, permission lists, and access control.
- Support security audits, compliance, and disaster-recovery activities.
- Provide L2/L3 administration support and maintain technical documentation and run-books.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of PeopleSoft application administration experience
- Hands-on experience managing complex PeopleSoft environments in large enterprises.
Detailed Skills Required
Core Administration Skills
- PeopleSoft installation, configuration, and maintenance using PSADMIN.
- Application Server (Tuxedo), Web Server (WebLogic), Process Scheduler, and Integration Gateway administration.
- Domain configuration, boot / shutdown, and server troubleshooting.
Search & Reporting Infrastructure
- Elasticsearch / OpenSearch (PeopleSoft Search Framework) and Kibana configuration.
- BI Publisher and nVision setup, Report Manager, and report distribution.
Upgrade & Maintenance
- PeopleTools upgrades, PUM image maintenance, and Change Assistant / Change Packages.
- Deployment Packages (DPK), patching, and retrofit deployment.
Environment & Migration
- Environment refresh, cloning, and configuration management.
- Migrations using Data Mover, Application Designer project migration, and ADS.
- Backup and recovery planning and execution.
Database & Operating System
- Oracle Database administration fundamentals and SQL tuning.
- Unix / Linux administration and shell scripting (ksh / bash).
- Job scheduling with cron and enterprise schedulers (Autosys / Control-M).
Performance & Monitoring
- Performance Monitor (PMU), application / server tuning, and caching.
- Load balancing, batch performance optimization, and log analysis.
Security Administration
- User provisioning, roles, permission lists, and access control.
- LDAP / SSO integration, security audits, and compliance.
Practices & Preferred
- Git / version control, CI/CD, Agile / Scrum, and ITIL processes.
- Disaster-recovery planning and OCI / Azure / AWS hosting.
- PeopleSoft Upgrader (Lead Administrator) and automation tooling.
