Palo Alto Network Security Engineer (Only Visa Independent Candidate/W2)

We are seeking an experienced Palo Alto Network Security Engineer to support enterprise firewall modernization initiatives, emphasizing firewall migrations, policy optimization, and security rule management. This individual will play a key role in planning, executing, and validating complex migrations from legacy firewall platforms to Palo Alto Networks solutions while ensuring security, performance, and business continuity.

 

Responsibilities

• Lead and support migrations from legacy firewall technologies (Cisco ASA, Check Point, Fortinet, Juniper, etc.) to Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Analyze, review, and optimize existing firewall policies and rule sets to align with security best practices.
• Design, implement, and maintain Palo Alto security policies, NAT configurations, VPNs, and network segmentation strategies.
• Perform rule-base cleanup, policy standardization, object consolidation, and security posture assessments.
• Troubleshoot complex network and security issues across enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with network, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure successful deployment and ongoing support.
• Validate firewall migrations through testing, performance monitoring, and post-implementation reviews.
• Maintain documentation related to firewall architecture, policy standards, migration plans, and operational procedures.
• Support security audits, compliance initiatives, and vulnerability remediation efforts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on network security experience.
• Strong experience administering and implementing Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Proven experience leading or participating in large-scale firewall migration projects.
• Deep understanding of firewall policies, rule sets, NAT, VPN technologies, routing, and network security principles.
• Experience reviewing and optimizing complex enterprise firewall environments.
• Knowledge of Panorama for centralized firewall management preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts across Azure and AWS environments is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, or equivalent are preferred.
