Job Title : Senior MySQL Database Administrator – Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL

Experience supporting MySQL databases in the cloud, preferably Google Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL.

Required:

· 4-6 years of DBA experience

· Ability to work in large application domain, including operational support for multi-region database platform consisting of 150 instances and 200 databases over 12 environments

· Maintain continuous system health and availability

· Administrative support including ID provisioning and security

· War room/incident support with on-call responsibilities

· Support the application development and architecture teams with performance tuning and SQL development.

· Support Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) with terraform development for DB instance creation and configuration

· Candidate needs to be self-motivated and take initiative with daily tasks and project work. Candidate also needs great written communication and verbal skills, as well as time availability to maintain the relationship with teams across the globe. Organizational skill and attention to detail is critical with the size of the platform that will be managed.

· Working hours starting at 8am CT.

Preferred:

· Experience with MongoDB

· Operational integration of AI

· Jenkins pipeline development

Role Descriptions: Install| configure| administer| upgrade and maintain MySQL databases across development| testing and production environments.Monitor database availability| health| capacity and performance and proactively address issues.Perform SQLquery optimisation| index tuning and database performance tuning.Manage database backup| restoration and recovery| including point-in-time recovery and periodic recovery validation.Configure and manage MySQL replication| High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.Troubleshoot production issues including slow queries| deadlocks| locking| replication failures| connectivity and resource utilisation.Manage database users| roles| privileges| authentication and security controls.Perform database patching| version upgrades and migrations with appropriate planning and validation.Support database deployments and production releases| including database scripts and schema changes.Monitor database growth and perform capacity planning| storage management and housekeeping.Automate repetitive DBA activities using Shell| Python| Ansible or similar automation tools.Work closely with application| infrastructure| DevOps and development teams to resolve database-related issues.Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical database incidents and implement preventive measures.Maintain operational documentation| configuration details| recovery procedures and DBA runbooks.Participate in 24x7 production supporton-call activities as required and ensure timely resolution of critical incidents
Essential Skills: Strong hands-on experience in MySQL Database Administration in production environments.Installation| configuration| upgrade| patching and maintenance of MySQL databases.Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture| storage engines| indexing| locking and transactions.Expertise in SQL query optimisation| performance tuning and troubleshooting.Experience with backup| restore and recovery| including point-in-time recovery.Hands-on experience with replication| including setup| monitoring and troubleshooting.Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as MySQL InnoDB Cluster| Group Replication or similar technologies.Database monitoring| capacity planning| space management and performance analysis.Experience troubleshooting slow queries| blocking| deadlocks| CPUmemory utilisation and database connectivity issues.Strong understanding of database security| userrole management| privileges| authentication and auditing.Experience with database migration| version upgrades and production deploymentsupport activities.Working knowledge of LinuxUnix administration and shell scripting.Automation experience using ShellPythonAnsible is desirable.Exposure to cloud-hosted MySQL services such as AWS RDSAurora or Azure Database for MySQL is an advantage.Ability to support 24x7 production environments| incident management| root-cause analysis and problem resolution
