Role OverviewAn established AV integration company in Connecticut is seeking an
AV Field Service Technician focused primarily on service and troubleshooting in commercial environments. This role is dedicated to supporting existing AV systems in
corporate offices, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, and commercial facilities - not new construction or large installation projects.
The ideal candidate comes directly from the
AV integration/service side of the industry and has experience responding to service calls, diagnosing system issues, and supporting live commercial AV environments.
Key Focus of the RoleThis position is centered on
AV service work in commercial spaces:
- Post-install support for existing systems
- Troubleshooting and repair in active business environments
- Supporting conference rooms, meeting spaces, and shared collaboration areas
This is
not an IT helpdesk role and
not a build-only installation position.
Key Responsibilities- Perform AV service and troubleshooting work in commercial and corporate environments
- Respond to customer service calls for existing, installed AV systems
- Diagnose and resolve issues with displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, and control systems
- Troubleshoot conference room and collaboration space issues, including audio, video, and control functionality
- Support and service AV control platforms such as Crestron, Extron, or AMX
- Review DSP configurations to identify and resolve audio problems (Biamp, QSC, or similar)
- Troubleshoot AV signal flow issues including routing, EDID/HDCP conflicts, and resolution mismatches
- Support Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and other soft-codec conference room setups
- Identify AV-related network issues and coordinate with client IT teams when needed
- Clearly document service work, root cause, and resolution after each visit
Required Background & Experience- 3+ years of experience working for an AV integration company, ideally in a service technician role
- Hands-on experience supporting commercial AV environments
- Strong understanding of how integrated AV systems are serviced and supported
- Proven ability to troubleshoot live, customer-facing AV systems
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, or AMX from a service/support perspective
- Experience navigating DSP software to diagnose audio issues (Biamp preferred)
- Solid understanding of AV signal flow, system connectivity, and commercial AV hardware
- Basic AV networking knowledge (IP addressing, connectivity, device communication)
- Ability to read system drawings, as-builts, and wiring diagrams
- Valid driver's license and comfort traveling to commercial client sites

Travel Requirements- Daily travel to commercial client sites throughout Connecticut

Preferred (Not Required)- CTS or other AV industry certifications
- Prior experience supporting corporate or commercial collaboration spaces
- Experience servicing Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms environments

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00/hr.
