Role Overview
Our Client firm is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our growing product and data efforts. This individual will manage a cross-functional team of developers and data engineers, drive the technical direction of our platform, and directly partner with business stakeholders investors, portfolio leaders, and platform teams to drive innovation and efficiency across our deal lifecycle.
This is a hands-on leadership position, blending people management with high-impact individual contributions in data engineering, applied AI tooling, and product management. We're looking for someone to be an IC while also hiring a team to 10x their output. The ideal candidate brings product judgment, an eye for design, and a proven passion for technology and startups. They are embarking on a journey to become more data-driven in how we identify visionary founders, diligent companies from seed through pre-IPO, and support our portfolio companies through each stage of growth with value-additive research and services. This is a highly anticipated and visible role with unique access to leading AI investors, experienced operators, and the next generation of founders. We re looking for a leader to impact the evolution of how we invest and make decisions as a firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to deeply understand needs, gather and prioritize requirements, and define the vision for internal and external digital products
- Define and execute a multi-year technical roadmap for proprietary AI platform prioritizing ruthlessly, running lean agile cycles, and shipping products that directly influence how a multi-billion-dollar fund sources and wins deals
- Architect a proprietary intelligence layer on top of our clients 40+ years of institutional data designing systems that fuse structured and unstructured signals across CRMs, financial systems, market feeds, and third-party data into a unified, queryable foundation for AI-native investing
- Build and productionize AI agents capable of autonomously driving deals through the full investment lifecycle from early signal detection and founder identification to diligence synthesis and portfolio monitoring
- Engineer proprietary ML models for inflection detection, market trend mapping, and contact network analysis deploying fine-tuned and custom-trained models that give a durable, compounding analytical edge over the market
- Design and operate high-throughput data pipelines processing millions of investment signals daily building robust, scalable infrastructure that ingests, normalizes, and enriches data from dozens of sources with high reliability and low latency
- Own the full AI/ML stack end-to-end from data modeling and vector stores to model serving, evaluation frameworks, and agent orchestration making architectural decisions that will define technical posture for the next decade
- Recruit and lead a team of data engineers, architects, and external contractors
- Roll up sleeves as an IC to prototype, build, and troubleshoot impactful product and data initiatives where needed
Skills & Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in product management, engineering, or data/analytics roles at a top tech company, high-growth startup, or product-driven team at a VC, PE, or hedge fund
- Demonstrated ability to deliver as an individual contributor, as well as manage technical teams

- High fluency with modern AI tools and systems, including independently driven projects that apply these technologies in practice
- Deep technical proficiency in building and integrating modern data infrastructure, pipelines, and cloud-native solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or equivalent)
- Experience with major data engineering and analytics tools (e.g., SQL, DBT, Databricks, ETL/ELT frameworks, BI/visualization platforms), as well as AI/ML model deployment (Python, Lang Chain, orchestration frameworks, MLOps, or similar)
- Product management skillset: requirements gathering, stakeholder management, roadmap creation, product strategy, UI/UX sensibility, and communication
- Proficiency integrating SaaS, data, and AI workflow tools (CRM, finance, document management, data pipelines, etc.)
- Ability to assess, onboard, or build new AI and analytics tools, with a clear vision for data-driven value and a bias for automation
- Passion for technology, startups, and driving investor/founder success
- Expertise with software engineering languages and frameworks, including Python, Node.js, and React, is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of investment operations, portfolio analytics, or financial services workflows; direct experience in VC/PE is a significant plus
- Demonstrated founder or entrepreneurial experience taking a product from 0 to 1
- Proven experience designing and building internal tools that improve team productivity and workflows
- Experience managing remote or international teams
