Junior Data Engineer
We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join a growing data team focused on building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines. This role offers a strong opportunity for professional growth through hands-on experience with modern data technologies, mentorship from experienced engineers, and direct exposure to business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
The ideal candidate has 1 to 3 years of experience in data, analytics, or software engineering and is eager to deepen their expertise in cloud-based data platforms, data transformation, and reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data from a variety of sources.
- Build and maintain integrations with external systems, APIs, and third-party platforms.
- Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing system reliability and performance.
- Create, maintain, and enhance business intelligence dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Ensure data quality through validation, testing, and monitoring processes.
- Contribute to the design and development of data models and transformation workflows.
- Respond to ad hoc data requests and business reporting needs.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, workflows, and reporting assets.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to promote best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to query, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
- Working knowledge of Python for data engineering or analytics tasks.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or similar platforms.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, modern data transformation tools such as dbt.
- Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
- Experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Sigma, or comparable platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ETL/ELT and data integration tools.
- Exposure to workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud services and data infrastructure.
- Experience working with REST APIs and system integrations.
- Academic, internship, or professional experience in data modeling and database design.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and best practices in analytics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, business intelligence, software engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in documentation and technical explanation.
Preferred Technologies: SQL, Python, Snowflake, dbt, Git, BI/Visualization Tools, APIs, Cloud Data Platforms, ETL/ELT Tools.
