Role Overview
Seeking a Senior Backend or Full Stack Engineer to design and build production grade systems for an AI driven workforce intelligence platform. This role focuses heavily on backend engineering, distributed systems, event driven architecture, and integrating AI/ML components into scalable services. Ideal for engineers who take full ownership from design to deployment and excel in high growth, technically complex environments.
Core Responsibilities
1. Backend System Design & Implementation
- Build high performance, scalable, and reliable backend services.
- Apply strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Maintain high engineering standards for testing, documentation, and code quality.
- Diagnose and resolve root level technical issues.
2. API & Microservices Development
- Design and maintain RESTful/GraphQL APIs and distributed microservices.
- Build event driven services handling high throughput data flows.
- Integrate backend systems with AI/ML pipelines, scoring engines, and automation workflows.
- Develop data pipelines for ingestion, classification, routing, and activation.
- Ensure AI outputs are explainable, traceable, and auditable.
3. Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with architecture and PM teams to translate system designs into implementation.
- Mentor junior and mid level engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and architectural planning.
4. Project Ownership
- Own projects end to end-from requirements to production release.
- Break down complex systems into manageable, deliverable components.
- Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and technical considerations proactively.
- Improve workflows, architecture, and team processes.
5. Quality, Scalability & Maintainability
- Write clean, maintainable, well documented code.
- Build systems designed for scale and long term reliability.
- Maintain strong data discipline and eliminate hidden or inconsistent states.
- Identify and reduce technical debt.
Required Technical Experience
- 5-8+ years in backend or full stack engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Hands on experience with event driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc.).
- Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and concurrency.
- Proficiency with cloud environments (AWS preferred), CI/CD, and containerization.
- Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- Integrating AI/ML models into production backend systems.
- Data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or feature stores.
- Exposure to MLOps or collaboration with data science teams.
- Experience in fast growing startup environments.
- Proven history of building scalable, reliable, defensible infrastructure.
