Senior SAP FI and Tax Upgrade SME

We are seeking a Senior SAP FI and Tax Upgrade SME to lead the financial and tax-related workstreams for a critical ECC6 support-package upgrade from level 17 to target level 37.
This individual will assess the impact of the upgrade on FI configuration, tax processing, integrations, customizations, reports, interfaces, and accounting processes. The successful candidate must have completed multiple ECC6 upgrades and be capable of directing systems-integrator resources, resolving complex defects, and advising senior finance and program stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess upgrade impacts across SAP FI, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Asset Accounting.
- Evaluate tax configuration, tax processing, reporting, external tax integrations, and related custom development.
- Review relevant SAP Notes, legal changes, configuration impacts, defects, and remediation requirements.
- Lead FI and tax regression-testing scope, defect resolution, business validation, and production readiness.
- Coordinate FI dependencies with MM, procurement, inventory, controlling, accounts payable, and external systems.
- Direct and challenge systems-integrator resources assigned to FI and tax activities.
Required Experience
- Extensive SAP ECC6 FI implementation, configuration, support, and upgrade experience.
- Significant experience with ECC6 support-package upgrades affecting FI and tax functionality.
- Demonstrated participation in multiple successful SAP upgrades, preferably across a large range of support-package levels.
- Strong functional knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, and related financial processes.
- Deep understanding of FI integration with MM, procurement, inventory, invoice verification, controlling, and external systems.
- Strong experience with SAP tax configuration, tax calculation, jurisdictional requirements, tax reporting, and external tax integrations.
- Experience reviewing SAP Notes, legal changes, corrections, and functional changes introduced by support packages.
- Ability to assess custom programs, enhancements, user exits, BADIs, interfaces, forms, reports, and workflows.
- Experience working in heavily customized SAP ECC6 environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead functional, integration, and regression testing for major SAP upgrades.
- Proven experience troubleshooting high-severity FI and tax defects during upgrades or production stabilization.
- Experience directing systems-integrator or offshore functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical and functional risks to finance leaders and executives.
- Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
