Purchasing Master Data Functional Lead

Position Summary

seeking an experienced Purchasing Master Data Functional Lead to lead a global master data cleansing, standardization, and governance initiative across SAP and Oracle ERP platforms. This role will be responsible for defining and implementing purchasing master data standards, improving data quality, establishing governance processes, and supporting long-term master data management capabilities across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in procurement and purchasing business processes, along with hands-on knowledge of purchasing-related master data structures within SAP and Oracle. This individual will partner closely with Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and IT teams to develop and enforce data standards, drive data remediation activities, and establish sustainable governance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Information Systems, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Supply Chain, or ERP functional roles.
  • Deep understanding of purchasing and sourcing business processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and/or Oracle purchasing-related master data.
  • Proven experience leading master data cleansing, governance, harmonization, or ERP transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing organizations, sourcing processes, procurement controls, and supplier-related data.
  • Experience facilitating business workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within global manufacturing organizations.
  • SAP ECC and Oracle ERP experience.
  • Experience with SAP Materials Management (MM), Oracle Procurement, or related procurement solutions.
  • Experience supporting ERP consolidations, and/or data migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Master Data Governance & Standards

  • Lead the development and implementation of Purchasing master data governance policies, standards, processes, and controls.
  • Define business rules, naming conventions, required attributes, ownership structures, and approval workflows.
  • Establish standards for creating, updating, maintaining, and retiring purchasing master data.
  • Develop governance frameworks to support ongoing master data quality and compliance.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment on enterprise purchasing data standards.

Master Data Cleansing & Remediation

  • Assess SAP and Oracle purchasing-related master data to identify duplicates, inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and missing information.
  • Lead large-scale data cleansing, standardization, validation, and enrichment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to resolve data quality issues and drive remediation efforts.
  • Develop data quality metrics and reporting to monitor progress and compliance.
  • Ensure ongoing sustainability of clean and governed purchasing master data.

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, and Compliance organizations to understand business requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops to identify data quality challenges and define future-state governance processes.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and governance standards.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on purchasing master data management, governance, and process improvement.

SAP and Oracle Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for purchasing master data across SAP and Oracle ERP environments.
  • Understand purchasing data dependencies across procurement, sourcing, inventory management, supplier management, planning, and finance processes.
  • Partner with ERP functional teams to align system configurations and business processes with master data governance requirements.
  • Support ERP transformation, integration, migration, and harmonization initiatives.

Data Governance Enablement

  • Establish data stewardship roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop training materials, work instructions, process documentation, and governance procedures.
  • Support implementation of master data governance tools, workflows, and controls.
  • Drive organizational awareness and accountability for purchasing master data quality.
  • Promote continuous improvement and governance maturity across the organization.
