Actuarial – Technical Lead needed on a contract to hire basis
This is a hybrid role, 4 days a week onsite, to be located in either Farmington CT, downtown NYC or Iselin, NJ
You will oversee critical technology initiatives, ensure operational excellence, and manage a team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to meet the company’s goals. This role is placed within then IT Actuarial Product working closely with the pricing and reserving actuarial team.
Job Duties:
• Assist senior IT leadership in developing and executing IT strategies that align with organizational objectives.
• Manage IT projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and implementation.
• Oversee the performance and development of IT teams, ensuring high levels of productivity and engagement.
• Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications.
• Ensure the security, scalability, and compliance of IT operations with industry standards and regulations.
• Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to identify and address technology needs.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to improve business processes and services.
• Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
• Assist in managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for software, hardware, and services.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 9+ years of experience in IT roles, with at least 4 years in a leadership position.
• Proven ability to manage complex IT projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of modern development principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance, and IT governance best practices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and enterprise systems.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in budgeting and financial management for software delivery teams.
• Prior experience in the insurance industry is highly desirable, specifically working with pricing and/or reserving actuaries.
