Essential Job Duties

NC State Athletics is a leader in video and broadcast production, supporting high-profile live events and innovative media experiences across its athletic venues. We are seeking a Broadcast Engineering professional to join our team and help ensure the reliable operation and delivery of complex productions across the department.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position plays a hands-on role in maintaining broadcast and A/V systems, supporting ESPN/ACC Network events, preparing production equipment, and helping bring multiple productions together on tight timelines. The ideal candidate is technically capable, highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced live production environment where priorities can change quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Engineering with the maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration, and technical operation of broadcast facilities, A/V systems, video boards, and digital signage throughout athletic venues.
  • Provide engineering support for ESPN/ACC Network event broadcasts hosted or supported by NC State facilities.
  • Plan and coordinate equipment allocation and deployment for multiple productions.
  • Set up, test, and prepare production equipment, often supporting multiple events within tight turnaround windows.
  • Perform basic maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of broadcast and production equipment.
  • Train and mentor student operators in equipment operation, safe handling practices, professional production techniques, and production etiquette.
  • Apply knowledge of live broadcast programming concepts, production principles, methodologies, and technical practices to support successful events.
  • Supervise student staff as needed, including scheduling, load-ins and strikes, coaching and directing, intern management, and oversight of engineering projects.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.

This role requires someone who can take initiative, work independently, and stay focused in a fast-moving production environment while collaborating effectively within a team. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, responding with urgency when situations demand it, and working through complex technical challenges with appropriate support from colleagues.

If you enjoy live sports, broadcast technology, and the challenge of making complex productions work seamlessly behind the scenes, this is an opportunity to make a direct impact on the fan and broadcast experience at NC State Athletics.

In addition to the core responsibilities of this role, there may be occasional opportunities to take on additional duties. This offers an opportunity to build on your skills, explore new areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations.
