Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Radiologist,performs Radiology Servicesprocedures at a technical level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or proceduresrequired.
Recognizes thepurposeemployment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a Technologist. Performs examinations on patients of various ages from pediatric to geriatric.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Selects andoperatesequipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects and loads proper film cassettes, using filmmarkerscorrectly and consistently, develops film asrequired.
Transfers and properly positionspatients for examinationsin order toobtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization asrequiredand protectionin accordance withprescribed safety standards.
Assistphysicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media,holdingand turning patients,assistingin sterile procedures, and other related duties asrequired.
Performs a varietyof clerical tasks toinclude:inputting/editing exams, and completion of requisition prior tosending images to radiologist for interpretation.
Receives verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with the state license.
Demonstrates Customer Service/Service Plus principles and behaviors appropriately.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
Associate Degreeor equivalent in Radiological Technologyrequired.
Must have been either ?Grandfathered? by the state of Texas or passed with a certificate from a Radiology program accredited by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, American Society of Registered Technologists, and American College of Radiologistrequired.
Must attend all department/hospital-mandated classes such as infection control, fire, safety,etc, in a twelve-month period.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
