Education Requirements
- Associate's Degree (AAS preferred) in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Quality Control Technology, or a laboratory-focused technical field
- Additional laboratory certifications or specialized training required
Experience Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience preferred, especially testing metal powders
- Experience with laboratory equipment, analytical testing, and data collection
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems is a plus
- Understanding of quality assurance, corrective actions, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement practices preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare metal powder samples for laboratory testing
- Perform particle size, density, chemical, and physical property testing
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, spectrometers, and sieves
- Record and analyze test results to ensure quality standards are met
- Prepare reports and document testing activities accurately
- Calibrate testing equipment and maintain laboratory records
- Assist in investigating quality concerns and resolving product issues
- Follow ASTM, AMS, customer specifications, and safety procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvements
Physical Capabilities
- Stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Perform repetitive testing and inspection tasks
- Work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment with exposure to metal powders
- Wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory equipment when needed
- Follow strict safety and hazardous material handling procedures
