Education Requirements


  • Associate's Degree (AAS preferred) in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Quality Control Technology, or a laboratory-focused technical field

  • Additional laboratory certifications or specialized training required


Experience Requirements


  • Previous laboratory experience preferred, especially testing metal powders

  • Experience with laboratory equipment, analytical testing, and data collection

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems is a plus

  • Understanding of quality assurance, corrective actions, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement practices preferred


Job Duties


  • Prepare metal powder samples for laboratory testing

  • Perform particle size, density, chemical, and physical property testing

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, spectrometers, and sieves

  • Record and analyze test results to ensure quality standards are met

  • Prepare reports and document testing activities accurately

  • Calibrate testing equipment and maintain laboratory records

  • Assist in investigating quality concerns and resolving product issues

  • Follow ASTM, AMS, customer specifications, and safety procedures

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvements


Physical Capabilities


  • Stand for extended periods throughout the shift

  • Perform repetitive testing and inspection tasks

  • Work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment with exposure to metal powders

  • Wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory equipment when needed

  • Follow strict safety and hazardous material handling procedures
