Job Title: Senior Mainframe Scheduling Migration SME - Remote / Telecommute

Job Location: Toronto, ON

Job Type: Contract

Pay Range: $41.00hr - $46.00hr

Job Overview:

The Scheduling Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) will require expertise in the mainframe (z/OS) environment. The candidate will be required to perform services, migrating batch scheduling products to IBM Z Workload Scheduler and demonstrate problem-solving skills in replacing the scheduling products. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, and previous scheduler migration experience is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of IBM Z Workload Scheduling features and functions, including monitoring the workload via the ISPF dialog. A working knowledge of the Dynamic Workload Console is an advantage. The candidate will be required to investigate and analyze report information to draw conclusions regarding migration activities and corrective actions, as well as write and maintain documentation. The position requires working effectively as a team member with internal employees, project managers, contractors, and client personnel.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of Mainframe (OS/390, z/OS) experience.
  • 5+ years of IBM Z Workload Scheduler experience.
  • Proficient with TSO/ISPF editing.
  • Excellent understanding of Job Control Language (JCL).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Skills:

  • REXX Programming experience.
  • Workload Automation Programming Language experience.
  • Strong analytic abilities to study multiple reports to identify cause and effect.
  • Experience with other mainframe scheduling products such as CA7, CA-ESP, CA-Scheduler, Jobtrac, or BMC Control-M.
  • Dynamic Workload Console navigation and installation experience.
  • Project Management experience.

Additional or Advantageous Skills:

  • Experience with migrating other Mainframe scheduling tools to IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
  • Basic z/OS System Programming knowledge/skills.
  • Technical pre-sales experience.
  • System Administration scheduling experience with Open systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux).
