Genesis10 is currently seeking a Buyer/Planner for a contract position with a Global Industrial Equipment Manufacturer located in Kansas City, MO. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications Position Overview: This role focuses on supply chain management within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing material requirements, executing purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production and service demands.
Key Responsibilities: - Analyze daily requirements to determine materials needs and execute purchase orders
- Maintain accurate delivery information on open purchase orders through supplier acknowledgements
- Expedite material delivery where necessary and maintain status updates on shortages
- Continually review stocking levels for each item to provide targeted service levels
- Communicate with suppliers to support the inventory plan and ensure timely delivery
- Regularly update backlog status reports and communicate expected delivery for customer orders
- Review and recommend disposition of all excess and obsolete inventory
- Perform root cause analysis of service outliers to identify and implement process improvements
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure purchase orders are acknowledged and shipments are executed on-time
- Engage with Quality and Engineering to address supplier non-conforming parts
- Serve as the primary accounts payable/receivable contact for your supply base
Primary Requirements: - 1 to 3 years of procurement or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience working effectively with suppliers, managing purchase orders and ensuring supplier on-time delivery
- Foundational proficiency in supply chain management principles and commodity sourcing strategies
- Strong understanding of ERP MRP fundamentals, including purchase order signals and planning parameters
- Ability to interpret and work with technical specifications, drawings, and quality requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Professional and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective supplier and team relationships
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Desired Skills: - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field
- Experience in railroad, aerospace, automotive or other heavy industrial manufacturing or remanufacturing sectors
- Experience in the supplier selection process and managing supplier partnerships using performance KPI metrics
- Proven supplier negotiation techniques
