Help shape the spaces where care advances and discoveries happen. This permanent Mechanical Engineer opportunity offers the chance to design high-performing mechanical systems for healthcare facilities and laboratories within the engineering industry.

You will translate complex clinical, research, and operational needs into practical, coordinated building systems. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to projects where safety, reliability, energy efficiency, and occupant well-being are essential.

This role is ideal for an engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience who enjoys solving technical challenges, taking ownership of design deliverables, and making a meaningful impact through engineering.

Responsibilities

Develop mechanical building systems designs for healthcare facilities, laboratories, and related technical environments.

Design ventilation, heating, cooling, exhaust, and associated mechanical systems to support project requirements, indoor environmental quality, and applicable safety standards.

Prepare engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, airflow requirements, pressure relationships, and equipment sizing.

Produce and review engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation using Revit and related design tools.

Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and specialist disciplines to resolve conflicts and support integrated project delivery.

Develop ventilation strategies for clinical and laboratory spaces, considering filtration, containment, pressure control, and operational needs.

Evaluate equipment selections and system layouts for performance, maintainability, energy efficiency, and constructability.

Participate in design reviews and communicate technical recommendations clearly to clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

Support construction-phase activities through submittal reviews, responses to technical queries, site observations, and coordination with contractors.

Contribute to quality assurance, identify design risks, and help deliver accurate work within agreed project schedules.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including relevant work in healthcare facility design and laboratory systems design.

Demonstrated experience with healthcare facility design, Revit, design coordination, engineering drawings, engineering calculations, building systems design, ventilation design, and laboratory systems design, or equivalent skills and experience.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems and the specialized mechanical requirements of healthcare and laboratory environments.

Ability to prepare accurate engineering calculations and translate technical requirements into clear, coordinated design documentation.

Working knowledge of applicable building codes, mechanical standards, and healthcare and laboratory design guidelines.

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing competing technical and project priorities.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Professional engineering licensure, or progress toward licensure, is preferred.

Experience with energy modeling, commissioning coordination, or sustainable building design is an advantage.
