Forward-Deployed Software Engineer (AI & Industrial Automation)
Location: Chattanooga, TN (On-site / Travel required)
Salary: $80k - $100k + Equity
What We Do
We are a mission-driven technology firm focused on the reindustrialization of America. We replace antiquated, paper-heavy manufacturing processes with intelligent, AI-driven workflows. By connecting floor machinery, ERP systems, and human operators in real-time, we transform "tribal knowledge" into scalable, high-performance digital systems.
Backed by the founders of some of the world's most successful SaaS and venture firms, we believe the future of the American economy is built on the factory floor. We are looking for engineers who want to be in the trenches where the real work happens.
The Role: On-Site, End-to-End, Impact-First
This is not a traditional "desk job." As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you are a hybrid between a Full-Stack Developer, a Systems Architect, and a Technical Consultant. You will be embedded directly within customer environments (factories and industrial sites) to bridge the gap between our core platform and physical operations.
Success is binary: Does the software solve the customer's problem, and did you build it in a way that is reusable for the next factory?
What You'll Do
Customer-Facing Delivery: Work on the factory floor alongside operators to scope workflows, prototype solutions, and deploy production-grade software on their infrastructure.
Full-Stack Ownership: Build and harden services using Python, TypeScript, React, and Postgres.
Infrastructure as Code: Own the full deployment lifecycle using Docker, K8s, and Terraform in complex, often air-gapped enterprise environments.
Engineering for Scale: Develop SDKs, adapters, and CLI tools that "productize" field learnings, merging them back into our core platform.
Operational Excellence: Instrument services, set reliability SLAs, and optimize for low-latency performance in high-stakes environments.
Your Technical Toolkit
Languages: Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/React is required.
Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
DevEx: Familiarity with monorepo patterns (Turborepo/Nx), CI/CD, and automated testing.
Data: Experience with Postgres, REST/GraphQL, and message queues.
Nice to Have: Experience productionizing LLMs, latency optimization, and "golden path" development.
Who You Are
0-6+ Years Experience: We value talent and CS fundamentals over "years in a chair." High-potential new grads are encouraged to apply.
The "In-Person" Mindset: You thrive in high-intensity, physical environments. You are willing to relocate, travel frequently, and work long hours.
Ambiguity Specialist: You can walk into a noisy factory, listen to a non-technical manager, and translate their needs into a technical roadmap.
Mission-Driven: You are passionate about restoring American manufacturing.
Culture & Perks
Intensity & Craft: High-trust, high-speed environment. Work directly with the founders every day.
Physical Wellness: HQ access in Chattanooga includes a gym, sauna, cold plunge, and a personal trainer twice a week.
Full Immersion: Free housing provided when deployed to customer sites.
Ownership: High-equity compensation packages.
Community: Regular team dinners and a culture built on building together.
Note: This is an in-person role. Do not apply if you require a remote or hybrid schedule.
