Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end software development and delivery for Android applications across Agile teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Design leadership to prioritize initiatives, define technical deliverables, and manage cross-team execution.
• Drive engineering excellence through effective planning, risk management, and delivery governance.

Technical Strategy & Architecture

• Define and execute the technical vision for complex, enterprise-grade Android applications.
• Architect scalable, maintainable, and testable solutions using modern Android frameworks, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Champion architectural consistency, code quality standards, and long-term platform sustainability.

People Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor, coach, and develop Android engineers at all levels, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
• Build and nurture a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Lead code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best-practice adoption.

Operational Excellence & Reliability

• Establish and enforce governance standards, non-functional requirements (NFRs), observability practices, and operational excellence frameworks.
• Ensure application reliability, performance, and availability, targeting multi-nine crash-free session metrics and rapid incident resolution.
• Drive monitoring, alerting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Platform Modernization & Data Strategy

• Lead technology modernization efforts, including framework upgrades, architectural transformations, and platform evolution initiatives.
• Define API integration standards, mobile data architecture strategies, and offline-first capabilities to optimize synchronization, resiliency, and user experience.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies that enhance development efficiency and product innovation.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with a strong focus on native Android application development.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives, driving architectural decisions, and delivering enterprise-scale mobile applications.
• Demonstrated success working within Agile development environments and cross-functional teams.

Technical Expertise

• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and Java within the Android ecosystem.
• Deep experience designing and implementing modern Android architectures, including:
• MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel)
• MVI (Model-View-Intent)
• Clean Architecture
• Strong expertise with Dependency Injection frameworks such as Dagger and Hilt.
• Advanced knowledge of:
• Android performance profiling
• Memory management
• Battery optimization
• Concurrency management using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
• Hands-on experience with Inter-Process Communication (IPC) using AIDL (Android Interface Definition Language) for system-level service integration, particularly on custom hardware and point-of-sale (POS) platforms.
• Expertise in local data persistence solutions including Room, SQLite, and DataStore.
• Experience implementing and managing automated CI/CD pipelines, application release processes, and deployments through Google Play Console or enterprise MDM platforms.
