Title: Network Security Architect
Type: Contract - 6 to 12 months
Location: Fort Worth, Texas (Primarily remote, with occasional onsite days - candidates must be local)
Job Description:
Role Snapshot
This position puts you in charge of how a hybrid enterprise network is secured end to end - from the links that join the data center to the cloud, through the firewalls that police traffic, down to the segmentation and name-resolution layers underneath. The work is architectural and hands-on in equal measure.
Day-to-Day Scope
Design Work
- Draw up network security architectures that satisfy internal policy and regulatory obligations without slowing delivery
- Map out the private networking layer: virtual networks, subnet layouts, and where segmentation boundaries belong
- Set the Domain Name System (DNS) approach so resolution stays trustworthy and traffic lands where it should
Implementation & Upkeep
- Establish and run connectivity spanning on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms
- Dial in routing protocols and traffic paths so performance holds and failover works when a circuit drops
- Stand up, tune, and support Palo Alto Networks and Microsoft Azure Firewall deployments for threat defense
Working With Others
- Sit with teams outside networking and convert what the business needs into an architecture that actually holds up
- Serve as the senior technical voice for the network engineering group, mentoring engineers as you go
Who We're Looking For
Essentials
- At least 5+ years spent architecting network security at enterprise scale
- Connectivity: demonstrated skill joining on-premises environments to cloud securely - Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnels, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, and broader hybrid interconnect patterns
- Routing: deep working knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), plus route optimization and multi-path design
- Firewalls: real configuration, operations, and troubleshooting time on Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Azure Firewall
- Domain Name System (DNS): solid footing in DNS architecture, Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), filtering, and DNS-driven threat prevention
- Private Networking: experience delivering private network designs, segmentation strategies, and zero-trust network architectures
A Plus
- Network security certification - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or comparable
