We are looking for an Engineering Technician who wants to support meaningful environmental work. This role provides the opportunity to take part in survey projects that help prevent hazards and protect public spaces. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position supports survey operations that help address mining-related environmental challenges across the state. The work contributes to important projects involving mine drainage, mine fires, reclamation, and subsidence concerns. As a Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Instrument Operation: Assist in the use of total stations, theodolites, transits, levels, and similar tools to gather survey data
- Geospatial Equipment Use: Operate high accuracy geospatial radios, receivers, controllers, and base stations
- Data Processing: Use survey software to produce reports and compute coordinates, elevations, angles, and distances
- Field Documentation: Record, calculate, and check field notes for accuracy
- Information Research: Visit county courthouses to obtain ownership records, deed descriptions, and related project information
- Equipment Care: Maintain and store survey equipment in proper working order

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:- This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
