Summary

Job Description: Senior Informatica IDMC Tech Lead

Experience: 10+ Years

Role: Informatica IDMC / IICS Tech Lead

Essential Skills: Informatica IDMC (IICS), PowerCenter, CDI-PC, Oracle SQL, Unix

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Informatica IDMC Tech Lead to lead the modernization and migration of existing Informatica PowerCenter/CDI-PC assets to Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC/IICS). The role involves technical analysis, solution design, development, conversion, validation, and testing of ETL/ELT workflows, along with technical leadership, effort estimation, task allocation, and delivery governance.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter, CDI-PC, IDMC/IICS, Oracle SQL, and Unix, along with expertise in cloud data integration and migration. Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Python, and large-scale data ingestion is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Informatica Development and Migration

  • Analyze existing Informatica PowerCenter/CDI-PC mappings, sessions, workflows, mapplets, worklets, parameter files, and dependencies.

  • Design, develop, and maintain data integration workflows using Informatica IDMC/IICS.

  • Convert legacy ETL assets into IDMC-compatible mappings, mapping tasks, taskflows, connections, and schedules.

  • Identify conversion challenges, assess asset complexity, and recommend appropriate redesign or remediation approaches.

  • Ensure migrated workflows preserve existing business logic, transformation behavior, and source-to-target mappings.

2. ETL/ELT Pipeline Development

  • Build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise data integration and cloud data platforms.

  • Integrate Informatica IDMC with Databricks Lakehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other data platforms as required.

  • Develop scalable data ingestion and transformation solutions supporting diverse data formats and large data volumes, including petabyte-scale workloads.

  • Configure secure connections, authentication mechanisms, and data movement strategies between source and target systems.

3. Complex Transformation and Technical Design

  • Analyze and implement complex Informatica transformations, including expression, router, lookup, aggregator, Java, and XML transformations.

  • Evaluate transformation compatibility between PowerCenter/CDI-PC and IDMC/IICS.

  • Develop reusable design patterns and remediation approaches for unsupported or behaviorally different transformations.

  • Establish development standards, naming conventions, reusable components, and environment deployment practices.

4. Data Validation and Quality

  • Develop and execute Oracle SQL queries for source-to-target validation, data reconciliation, performance analysis, and defect investigation.

  • Validate converted workflows through unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and production-readiness checks.

  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data discrepancies, runtime issues, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Use Informatica Data Validation Option (DVO) or similar automated validation tools where applicable.

  • Implement data quality, metadata management, governance, and monitoring best practices.

5. Cloud Data Engineering and Automation

  • Develop and optimize cloud-based data integration solutions using Informatica IDMC/IICS.

  • Use Python and Unix/Linux shell scripting to automate data processing, validation, metadata extraction, and operational activities.

  • Implement workflow scheduling, task orchestration, and event-driven processing using Informatica capabilities.

  • Support CI/CD practices, deployment automation, monitoring, and operational reliability.

  • Apply secure data handling and access control practices across cloud data environments.

6. Technical Leadership and Delivery Management

  • Lead technical analysis, solution design, development, testing, and migration activities.

  • Estimate effort based on asset complexity, dependencies, transformation logic, source/target systems, and testing requirements.

  • Break down deliverables into actionable tasks and allocate work based on team capabilities and priorities.

  • Review technical designs, code, mappings, test evidence, and conversion deliverables.

  • Track progress, resolve technical blockers, manage risks, and communicate delivery status to stakeholders.

  • Mentor developers and guide the team on Informatica best practices, troubleshooting, and migration patterns.

7. Documentation and Collaboration

  • Prepare technical design documents, data flow diagrams, conversion playbooks, validation reports, and operational runbooks.

  • Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.

  • Conduct technical walkthroughs, knowledge-transfer sessions, and peer reviews.

  • Identify opportunities for reusable accelerators, automation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Informatica ETL development, data integration, or data engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter and/or CDI-PC.

  • Practical experience developing, configuring, validating, and troubleshooting Informatica IDMC/IICS assets.

  • Strong Oracle SQL skills, including complex joins, data validation, reconciliation, and performance troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands, shell scripting, file handling, and log analysis.

  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design, data integration, migration, and source-to-target mapping.

  • Experience leading technical teams, estimating effort, allocating tasks, reviewing deliverables, and resolving complex technical issues.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Informatica CDI-PC to IDMC/IICS migration or modernization initiatives.

  • Experience integrating Informatica IDMC with Databricks Lakehouse.

  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and PySpark.

  • Python scripting experience for automation, validation, metadata extraction, and comparison reporting.

  • Familiarity with petabyte-scale data ingestion, cloud data migration, and diverse data formats.

  • Exposure to Informatica B2B services and healthcare EDI formats, particularly 835 and 837.

  • Familiarity with Informatica Data Validation Option (DVO) or equivalent reconciliation tools.

  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and sprint planning.
