Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Communications Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale communications infrastructure projects. This contract role will focus on managing the design, implementation, and integration of communications systems, including a major hardware replacement program. The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience in communications, demonstrate exceptional execution and organizational skills, and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and oversee communications engineering projects from initiation to closeout, including a large-scale communications shelter hardware replacement.
- Manage project financials, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery and provide monthly status reports to leadership.
- Coordinate with internal teams, engineering, operations, IT, and external vendors to meet technical and operational goals.
* Supervise the deployment of communications systems such as SCADA, fiber optics, microwave, and radio networks.
- Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, operations, and IT, facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop solutions for business issues, create business cases, and assist with the RFP process using a waterfall methodology.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards.
- Interface with senior management to gain necessary approvals and manage risk in accordance with corporate governance.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing communications or utility infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex projects and assignments with minimum supervision.
- Proven ability to determine a project schedule's critical paths and float.
- Background in telecommunications, communications systems, or network infrastructure.
Technical Skills:- Strong understanding of utility-grade communications systems, digital technologies, and IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Experience with project management methodologies, practices, and procedures.
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience working with public utilities or municipal energy providers.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, network architecture, and field communications.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in the energy sector.
Work Environment
- Indoor work, operating computer and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. After-hours work may be required.
