Job Description

We are seeking a forward-thinking Electrical Engineering Department Lead/Manager to direct our electronics design team from concept through production. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering staff, and drive the development of advanced power conversion, motor control, and embedded systems for aerospace and military applications. Operating with minimal supervision, you will bridge the gap between technical execution, program management, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Team Management

Lead and mentor the electronics design team, providing technical guidance, career development, and daily operational support.

Drive hardware and software development strategies, leveraging your background in FPGA and microprocessor-based system design.

Foster innovation by bringing novel solutions and forward-thinking ideas to complex technological challenges.

Product Design & Lifecycle Management

Oversee end-to-end design, steering high-reliability products from initial architecture through to full-rate manufacturing.

Architect advanced electrical systems, focusing on power conversion (DC-DC converters), motor control, and motor driver technologies.

Utilize industry-standard tools including Altium for PCB design, LTspice for simulation, and LabVIEW for test development.

Manufacturing, Test, & Quality Support

Support manufacturing readiness by establishing comprehensive manufacturing test strategies.

Develop test documentation and execution procedures to ensure flawless transition to the production floor.

Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations for system and design issues, defining clear path forwards and risk management strategies.

Program Management & Business Development

Support proposals and quotations, estimating engineering efforts and defining technical scopes of work.

Develop program schedules and accurately forecast Estimate to Complete (ETC) metrics for the program management team.

Manage technical risks proactively, balancing budget, timeline, and compliance constraints.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

Serve as a primary customer interface, presenting technical reports, design reviews, and project updates with a strong customer-focused mindset.

Effectively communicate complex technical concepts across multidisciplinary internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience:

Experience: Proven experience in the aerospace or military defense industry, with a strong background in high-reliability electronics manufacturing environments.

Leadership Style: Personable, collaborative leader capable of managing, motivating, and uniting a technical team.

Core Competencies: Exceptional multitasker and problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.

Technical Depth: Deep understanding of power electronics (DC-DC, motor drivers) and embedded computing architectures (FPGAs, microprocessors).

Software/Tools: Altium, LTspice, and LabVIEW. PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Bachelors Degree: Minimum four (4) years of experience in people management. Minimum six (6) years of experience in field. OR Masters Degree: Minimum two (2) years of experience in people management. Minimum six (6) years of experience in field.

Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Security Clearance
