Assyst is seeking a skilled Business Process Consultant to support a client in Tallahassee, FL. This role is responsible for driving alignment between business processes and IT within assigned program areas. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with a deep understanding of both business operations and technical environments.
The consultant will play a critical role in analyzing, redesigning, and optimizing processes to improve performance and efficiency. This position requires close collaboration with stakeholders, strategic planning, and project management expertise. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and overseeing complex, multi-site initiatives while supporting the Department’s application modernization efforts.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of system processes, design improvements, and simulate new workflows to enhance efficiency
- Identify process gaps, define performance measures, and transition business units to optimized processes
- Act as a technical advisor to program leadership, providing strategic recommendations on technology and process improvements
- Ensure solutions align with both current operations and future program objectives
- Support planning and prioritization of business process engineering initiatives in alignment with Department goals
- Communicate defined processes effectively and assist stakeholders in understanding process flows across the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of process improvements
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to managing complex, multi-site projects
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Equivalent work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis)
- Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, At least 4 years in process engineering and At least 2 years in project management
- Certification in Process Improvement Methodologies
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), Kaizen, or similar methodologies
- Strong expertise in business process mapping, bottleneck identification, and inefficiency analysis
- Experience with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or BPMN tools (e.g., Bizagi, ARIS)
- Ability to align business processes with IT solutions effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to the corrections industry (e.g., HIPAA, CJIS Security Standards)
- Experience designing processes that comply with industry-specific regulations
