Network Security EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Network Security Engineer for a 6-month contract engagement. This role will primarily be remote, with occasional onsite presence (approximately 20%). The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in network security, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures using industry-leading technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on network security principles, standards, and best practices.
- Design, configure, deploy, and document secure network and firewall architectures in alignment with industry standards.
- Implement and manage Palo Alto and Fortinet firewall solutions, including policy creation and optimization.
- Develop and enforce firewall policies in accordance with IT Cyber Security standards and organizational guidelines.
- Configure and support enterprise networking environments utilizing:
- TCP/IP protocols
- Routing technologies (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DMVPN)
- Switching (Cisco Nexus 9K, Cisco Catalyst)
- VLANs, VXLAN, and subnetting
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Lead troubleshooting efforts from initial diagnosis through resolution; escalate to vendor TAC as needed.
- Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for network incidents and outages.
- Manage software upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance for network and security infrastructure.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate across all organizational levels.
Required Qualifications- Proven experience as a Network Security Engineer in a complex enterprise environment.
- Hands-on expertise with:
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Fortinet Firewalls
- Cisco Nexus 9000 series (including VXLAN)
- Cisco Catalyst switches
- Strong knowledge of advanced networking concepts and protocols.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and configuring secure network infrastructures.
- Experience with end-to-end incident ownership and escalation processes.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80.00 - $85.00/hr.
