Senior Power BI Developer

Hybrid onsite role

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to design and deliver enterprise-scale business intelligence and reporting solutions that drive data-informed decision-making. In this role, you will transform complex datasets into intuitive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights to business and technical stakeholders.

You will work as part of a collaborative software delivery team, partnering with business analysts, developers, architects, and data professionals throughout the full software development lifecycle. This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to solve complex reporting and data challenges.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic data models.
• Build scalable dimensional models and develop complex DAX calculations.
• Create compelling data visualizations that translate complex information into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions aligned with business needs.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure reporting solutions are secure, maintainable, high-performing, and production-ready.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Manage Power BI workspaces, gateways, scheduled refreshes, and security configurations.
• Support user acceptance testing and coordinate changes across reporting, application, database, and integration components.
• Contribute to technical standards, peer reviews, documentation, and release management activities.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership on reporting initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models.
• 8+ years of experience designing and delivering advanced Power BI solutions, including semantic models and complex DAX calculations.
• 8+ years of experience transforming complex datasets into performant data models.
• 4+ years of experience with:
  • Power BI workspace administration
  • Gateway configuration
  • Data refresh management
  • Security and access controls
• 4+ years of experience working through multiple phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• 4+ years of experience in data validation, reconciliation, defect analysis, and troubleshooting.
• 2+ years of experience using source control and structured deployment/release processes for Power BI.
• 2+ years of experience integrating Power BI solutions with broader applications, databases, and data pipelines.
• 2+ years of experience documenting technical designs, business rules, calculations, and data mappings.
• 2+ years of experience working with public education and special education data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with broader data engineering or data management initiatives.
• Experience working with SAS datasets (.sas7bdat).
• Experience using Jira in Agile development environments.
• Experience with additional BI platforms such as SAP Business Intelligence, Tableau, or similar tools.
