Job Title: Project Manager – Box to SharePoint Migration

Job Type: Contract 

Job Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Work Schedule: On-site

Pay Rate: $75, Based on experience

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead and coordinate the large scale migration of Box to Microsoft SharePoint Online and OneDrive. This role will drive planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of a smooth, low-risk migration with minimal business disruption.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, timeline, milestones, and deliverables 
  • Develop and manage detailed migration plans (waves, phases, cutover) 
  • Track progress, risks, dependencies, and budget 
  • Ensure on-time, on-scope delivery 
  • Partner with business units, IT, and leadership teams 
  • Communicate status updates, risks, and key decisions 
  • Gather requirements and align expectations across teams 
  • Work closely with architects and engineers on: 
    • Data discovery and assessment 
    • Migration scheduling and execution 
  • Coordinate pilot migrations and full rollout 
  • Ensure business readiness for each migration wave 
  • Identify risks (data loss, downtime, user disruption) 
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans 
  • Manage issue resolution across teams 
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) 
  • Ensure validation of migrated data (files, permissions, structure) 
  • Track sign-offs and readiness for go-live 
  • Drive communication plans and user training 
  • Support end-user adoption of SharePoint/OneDrive 
  • Coordinate documentation, FAQs, and support channels 
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership (KPIs, status, risks) 
  • Ensure compliance with governance and security policies 

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of project management experience (preferably IT or migration projects) 
  • Strong experience with enterprise-scale programs
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies 
  • Must have  : Experience managing platform migration projects – 2-3 E2E projects with content/cloud migrations (Box, Google Drive, SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of: 
    • Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams) 
    • Box platform 
  • Understanding of data migration concepts: 
    • File structures, permissions, metadata 
    • Migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager) 
  • Project tools (Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.) 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management 
  • Risk management and problem-solving 
  • Plus : PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification 
  • Plus : Experience in regulated environments (finance, healthcare, etc.)
