Job Title: Box/SharePoint Migration Architect
Job Type: Contract

Work Schedule: On-Site
Pay rate: $90-100 based on experience
We are looking for an experienced Migration Architect to lead the end-to-end migration of enterprise content from Box to Microsoft SharePoint Online and OneDrive. This role is responsible for designing migration strategy, ensuring data integrity, minimizing business disruption, and guiding stakeholders through a secure and scalable transition.
Responsibilities
- Define migration strategy from Box to SharePoint Online / OneDrive
- Assess current Box environment (data structure, permissions, integrations)
- Design information architecture in SharePoint (sites, libraries, metadata)
- Establish governance, compliance, and security models
- Plan and execute large-scale content migration
- Select and implement migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager)
- Define migration waves, cutover strategy, and rollback plans
- Ensure file integrity, permissions mapping, and version history migration
- Map Box permissions to SharePoint/Entra ID groups
- Ensure compliance with policies (DLP, retention, eDiscovery)
- Handle sensitive data and regulatory requirements
- Lead technical teams (engineers, admins, vendors)
- Troubleshoot migration issues (API limits, throttling, large files, etc.)
- Optimize performance and automation (scripts, PowerShell)
- Partner with business units to understand use cases
- Communicate migration plans, risks, and timelines
- Support change management and user adoption
- Define and execute validation strategies
- Ensure data completeness and accuracy post-migration
- Conduct UAT and sign-off processes
Qualifications:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams)
- Must have done a platform migration from Box, Google Drive to Sharepoint
- PREFERRED : Strong experience with Box platform (content structure, APIs, permissions)
- Migration tools:
- ShareGate
- Microsoft Migration Manager
- AvePoint / BitTitan (nice to have)
- PowerShell scripting
- Understanding of REST APIs
- Experience with large-scale data migrations
- Information architecture design
- Identity & access management (Azure AD / Entra ID)
- Data governance and compliance frameworks
