Job Description
We are seeking a Database Administrator 2 to support an enterprise SQL database environment. The primary responsibility will be assisting with the migration of existing databases from one hosted platform to a new hosted platform, including post-migration validation.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration, production database troubleshooting, architecture, backup/recovery and monitoring.
The environment currently includes SQL Server versions ranging from 2008 through 2019 and operates on a dedicated SQL performance hardware platform.
The DBA will also provide day-to-day break/fix incident response and assist with database updates, restores and recovery activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with migration of existing databases to a new hosted platform.
- Perform database and system validation after migrations.
- Administer and manage production databases.
- Troubleshoot database issues from basic through advanced complexity.
- Perform database backup, recovery and monitoring.
- Back up and restore production databases.
- Provide daily break/fix incident response for SQL environments.
- Support database updates, restores and recovery activities.
- Perform database security assessments and access reviews.
- Design, configure, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain database systems.
- Maintain accurate project, workload and process documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team members, peers and customers.
- Support ongoing database migration and infrastructure activities.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years experience administering and managing production databases.
- 5+ years database troubleshooting experience.
- 5+ years database backup, recovery and monitoring.
- 5+ years experience communicating within technical teams and with customers.
- 5+ years database security assessment and access management.
- 5+ years designing, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining systems.
- 5+ years maintaining project and workload documentation.
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Hands-on database migration experience.
- Experience validating databases and systems following migration.
- Experience backing up and restoring production databases.
- SQL Server 2008–2019 experience.
Preferred
- Experience with Oracle databases.
