Location: Joppa, Illinois (Onsite, with remote option for qualified candidates)
Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing the Early Stage (ES) process for high-voltage transmission and substation projects. The ES Project Manager coordinates and supports Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, and Construction resources through pre-construction activities. The primary duty is to ensure each project is ready for handover to the construction Project Manager with a fully executable plan, including a defined scope, schedule, budget, permits, and risk mitigation strategies. This role is focused on early-stage development and is not responsible for site-based construction management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of project plans with a focus on execution, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including Development, Land, Environmental, Legal, Regulatory, Procurement, Engineering, and Operations.
- Manage integration across project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Prepare RFP packages to competitively source engineering, survey, geotechnical, LiDAR, and construction services.
- Support the Estimating team with detailed scope and assumptions for financial models.
- Identify project risks and develop corresponding mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular progress, issue, and risk updates to management.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
Experience: Experience managing projects greater than $100MM. 11 to 15 years of experience leading energy storage and infrastructure projects, ensuring engineering and financial integration.
Skills: Project management, communication, and analytical skills are required. Candidates must have the ability to manage scope, schedule, and cost, along with strong documentation skills. The role requires the ability to travel approximately 25%.

- PMP Certification.
- Experience with transmission and substation projects.
- Commercial acumen and an action-oriented mindset.
