The Client is seeking a senior-level Full-Stack Software Engineer to join its Web Portals team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in full-stack application development along with significant hands-on experience working with Kubernetes and containerized production applications.
This engineer will contribute across the entire application lifecycle, including design, development, implementation, deployment, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
The team is looking for someone who can operate with significant technical ownership and comfortably move between application development and cloud-native deployment responsibilities.
Core Technical Environment
The applications are primarily built using:
- Java / Spring Boot for backend services and business logic
- ReactJS for frontend development
- PostgreSQL for data persistence
- Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Helm and Kubernetes manifests for application deployments
- Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines
- Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure and deployment automation
- GitHub for source control and pull-request-based code reviews
- Jira within an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Material UI for shared React components and design standards
The application environment is transitioning from an OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure to Kubernetes, making strong Kubernetes and cloud-native application experience particularly valuable.
Experience with Amazon EKS or another managed Kubernetes platform is also highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support full-stack production applications.
- Build backend services and business logic using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and maintain modern user interfaces using React.
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot applications running within Kubernetes environments.
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, and reusable deployment patterns.
- Support the migration of existing applications into Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
- Design applications and deployment approaches that remain portable across Kubernetes and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Work with PostgreSQL, including schema design, queries, data access, and performance considerations.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from initial design and architecture through deployment and production issue resolution.
- Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure automation, and deployment processes.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate closely with other engineering teams.
- Troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues in production environments.
- Provide technical input on engineering requirements, architecture, and cross-functional decisions.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership within an Agile engineering environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional experience developing production-grade full-stack applications.
- Approximately 5+ years of hands-on Java and React development experience.
- Strong Java / Spring Boot development background.
- Strong hands-on React experience.
- Approximately 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, particularly around application deployment and operations.
- Experience developing and maintaining Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts.
- Hands-on experience deploying, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting containerized applications in Kubernetes.
- Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, querying, and performance.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, application architecture, and core computer science concepts.
- Experience working with production applications throughout the full development and deployment lifecycle.
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture and containerized application design.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

They should be comfortable building features using Java/Spring Boot and React, while also understanding how those applications are containerized, deployed, supported, and troubleshot within Kubernetes
