Position Title: IT Production Support AssistantLocation: Downey, CA 90242Duration: 12 MonthsPosition SummaryThe IT Production Support Assistant works under the direction of a team lead or section manager to support production applications in mainframe and midrange computing environments.
This role supports production job processing including job creation, scheduling, execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting. The position also supports application deployment activities, incident management, and operational documentation in a 24/7/365 production environment.
The role may include working in a paired programming or training environment to support knowledge sharing and skill development across the team.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport production jobs in mainframe and midrange server environments
Create, schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot batch jobs
Execute job control processes based on predefined schedules and operational standards
Manage incident tickets using a tracking system, documenting actions and resolutions
Coordinate console operations, including device assignment and job execution monitoring
Respond to system/operator messages and ensure smooth production operations
Support application promotion activities using source code management tools
Work collaboratively with application developers for program package deployments
Review and maintain operational and procedural documentation
Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions
Ensure compliance with production control and data center standards

Required Experience - Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years supporting IBM mainframe operations and production control environments
- Experience with job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M or similar) including job submission, monitoring, holding, and cancellation
- Experience working in a data center environment managing incident tickets using a service management tool (e.g., Cherwell or similar)
- Experience supporting application promotion or deployment tools (e.g., Endevor or similar) for moving code elements such as JCL, PROCs, and control statements
- Additional Experience Required
- At least 1 year of experience operating high-volume production printers (e.g., Canon varioPRINT or similar MICR/high-speed printing systems)
Education Requirement - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Work Schedule / Environment
- 24/7/365 production support environment
- Rotating shifts (day, swing, overnight)
- Weekend and overnight work required as needed (advance notice provided)
- Hybrid schedule (onsite + remote)
