Job Description:
Core Engineering - Automation Engineer IV

Location: Menlo Park, California (Onsite)

COMPENSATION: $59 - $69 HOURLY

Role Overview

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to expand test and automation coverage for new product introductions. This role focuses on solutions involving advanced routing protocols, network fabrics, switches, and optics. The position involves scaling test automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) to support the introduction of new datacenter products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test and automate end-to-end network test cases, including control-plane, data-plane, performance, and stress/soak tests using an in-house test framework.
  • Build and execute traffic-generation tests within lab environments using Ixia/Keysight equipment.
  • Convert qualification test plans into automated, repeatable suites and integrate them as CI/CD pipeline nodes to gate releases.
  • Triage test failures to distinguish between intermittent issues and legitimate regressions, and file and track issues appropriately.
  • Maintain and enhance existing automation, test configurations, and lab tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve issues and improve test coverage.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in network engineering is required.

Experience: 5-8+ years in software or network test automation or a QA engineering role.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Python for test frameworks, scripting, and debugging.
  • Hands-on knowledge of networking fundamentals, including BGP, routing/forwarding, L2/L3, and data-plane versus control-plane concepts.
  • Experience with traffic generators such as Ixia, Keysight, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and working within a Linux environment using source control.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Open/R, BGP, ECMP/UCMP, or large-scale datacenter fabric topologies.
  • Experience qualifying network hardware, optics, or vendor Network Operating Systems (NOS) like Arista EOS.
  • Familiarity with lab automation, device provisioning, or scale and performance testing.
