Overview

The Work

The Computer Support Specialist provides comprehensive end?user and technical support services under the direction of the Information Management Division (IMD) within the E Secretariat. In this role, the specialist maintains and updates a dedicated internal network used for public outreach, ensuring reliable, secure, and effective operations that enable high?visibility communications and engagement activities.

This position is responsible for assisting with the configuration and support of social media and collaboration platforms (including Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx), performing mobile device setup and deployment, and supporting the maintenance of an accurate and current IT asset inventory. The Computer Support Specialist delivers responsive hardware and software support to a customer base of more than 500 users in a primarily Windows-based environment, troubleshooting issues, providing user assistance, and contributing to a stable and efficient IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure routers, switches, wireless access points, and WLAN controllers using Cisco and HP hardware in accordance with established standards and best practices.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance; perform capacity planning; troubleshoot connectivity issues; and provide responsive end?user network support.
  • Collaborate closely with other technical staff to ensure seamless connectivity, interoperability, and compatibility across systems and network services.
  • Continuously monitor network performance, identify anomalies or irregularities, and take corrective action to maintain availability, stability, and security.
  • Provide support for mobile devices, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting, and assist in maintaining accurate mobile device inventory records.
  • Rebuild, upgrade, and maintain network infrastructure components to ensure the environment remains current, secure, and aligned with organizational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of network issues, implement effective solutions, and coordinate with internal staff and external vendors to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Install, configure, operate, and maintain server and virtualization platforms, including Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, and VMware ESXi.

Qualifications

Qualifications - Here's What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred; relevant professional experience and industry certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with firewall deployments, IPsec configurations, and SharePoint administration is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team, including drafting recommendations, proposing solutions, and executing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple offices and bureaus, as well as interagency and external partners.
  • Secret Clerance is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, including follow-up on pending tasks.
  • Interpersonal skills and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting program planning, implementation, or evaluation activities (e.g., tracking milestones, monitoring performance indicators, preparing status reports).
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, economics, international affairs, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with federal government operations, programs, or grants management processes.

Working Conditions
  • Professional office environment, with the ability to work onsite in the main office.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen .
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
