Taxonomist / Information Architecture Contractor

Location: 100% Remote

Summary

Client is seeking a Senior Taxonomist / Information Architecture Contractor to lead the design and implementation of structured data systems that power next-generation eCommerce experiences.

This role focuses on scalable data models, including taxonomy and ontology design, and ensuring effectiveness in AI-driven applications such as LLMs.

Responsibilities

Lead taxonomy and structured data design for eCommerce

Build scalable vocabularies and inference systems

Design data frameworks for LLM extraction

Validate and improve LLM outputs

Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science

Establish best practices in taxonomy and IA

Check work product for and mentor junior contributors

Required Qualifications

5+ years demonstrated expertise in taxonomy, ontology, or IA in eCommerce

2+ years working cross-functionally directly with Product and Engineering

1+ years designing for LLMs

Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Two-sided marketplace experience

Domain expertise in Fashion, Jewelry, Beauty, or Home Dcor
