About the Role

We are seeking a driven and experienced Construction Supervisor to lead daily field operations for underground and aerial telecommunications projects. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing crews, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and driving projects to completion on schedule.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving in the field, and takes pride in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. You'll play a key role in coordinating teams, managing resources, and ensuring safe, efficient execution across multiple job sites.

What You'll Be Doing

1. Crew Leadership & Site Management

  • Supervise and support aerial and underground construction crews, including operators, laborers, linemen, and locators
  • Lead daily tailgate meetings to communicate project goals, safety expectations, and work plans
  • Mentor and coach team members while holding crews accountable for production, safety, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with foremen and field staff to meet or exceed production targets

2. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, DOT, NESC, and 811 regulations, along with internal safety policies
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, fall protection, trench safety systems, and traffic control measures
  • Identify and address jobsite hazards, near misses, and incidents
  • Maintain authority to stop work if unsafe conditions arise
  • Complete and review safety documentation such as JHAs and pre-job briefings
  • Conduct frequent jobsite safety inspections and ensure proper documentation

3. Project Execution & Quality Control

  • Review blueprints, permits, maps, and dig tickets prior to project kickoff
  • Oversee construction activities including:
    • Trenching and directional boring
    • Pole transfers and aerial fiber installation (lashing)
    • Conduit and fiber placement
    • Grounding, vault, and cabinet installation
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure high-quality installation of fiber, conduit, strand, and restoration work
  • Communicate field changes in real-time to management for approval
  • Track and document redlines and as-built changes for project closeout

4. Productivity & Resource Coordination

  • Set and track daily and weekly production goals
  • Monitor labor hours, equipment utilization, and material usage
  • Identify and resolve production delays and jobsite challenges quickly
  • Coordinate with logistics, engineering, warehouse teams, and subcontractors
  • Communicate project status updates, risks, and material needs to management

5. Communication & Reporting

  • Act as the primary liaison between field teams and upper management
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, timelines, and key issues
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of field activity and job completion status

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in:
    • Telecommunications construction (OSP)
    • Fiber optic installation (aerial and underground)
    • Construction management and field supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and network designs
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Underground construction (trenching, boring)
    • Aerial fiber installation and pole line work
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven experience supervising multiple crews and job sites
  • Deep knowledge of telecom construction standards and best practices
  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
