Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (50-hour weeks, OT included)

About the OpportunityWe are looking for a
Lead Cable Technician to support large-scale data center and outside plant (OSP) fiber projects in the Columbus, OH area. This role is ideal for someone with strong low-voltage experience who is ready to step into a leadership position while still remaining hands-on in the field.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee a team of technicians on fiber and structured cabling installations
- Perform hands-on work (approximately 80% field / 20% administrative)
- Pull, route, and install fiber optic cabling into buildings
- Troubleshoot fiber and cabling issues in real time
- Perform or oversee fiber termination and splicing
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project documentation
- Track materials, manpower, and job progress
- Complete required documentation (timesheets, reports, work orders, etc.)
- Coordinate with project managers and act as the on-site point of contact
- Ensure safety, quality standards, and project timelines are met
- Conduct team communication and support crew development
Required Qualifications- Minimum 3+ years of telecommunications / low voltage experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience (at least 6 months)
- Strong experience with fiber installation, troubleshooting, and termination
- Ability to read blueprints and project documentation
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (Excel, documentation tools)
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Reliable attendance and ability to lead by example
- Ability to pass drug screen and BGC
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in OSP (outside plant) fiber projects
- Exposure to structured cabling systems (Cat5e/Cat6)
- Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure or data center projects
- Familiarity with project tracking and reporting tools
Tools & Requirements- Must provide basic hand tools, including snips
- Must have composite toe boots
- Experience using telecom tools (punch-down, crimpers, testers, etc.)
Work Environment- Outdoor (OSP) job site supporting fiber installation
- Physically demanding role including lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
- Requires standing/walking for extended periods on large job sites
