Location: Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite). Potential monthly travel if not centrally located.

Job Description


We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team supporting the Energy Refineries, Pipelines, and Terminals (RPT) business. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in requirements definition, business process analysis, integrated application support, and end-to-end IT coordination and a proven ability to translate business objectives into actionable system requirements, drive continuous improvement, and deliver measurable value.


Responsibilities:



  • Understand industry issues and trends and present technical solutions that provide business value.

  • Analyze business strategy and user needs, document specifications, and translate objectives into system requirements.

  • Guide business case development for new functionality, including cost/benefit and risk/impact analysis.

  • Deliver value through benefits realization, cost avoidance, and opportunity identification to modernize the organization.

  • Maintain an understanding of business processes and focus on continuous improvement.

  • Gather requirements into user stories and engage teams for development, QA, and implementation.

  • Coordinate system development, QA, and user acceptance testing.

  • Support, test, and enhance moderately complex information systems, including error management functionality.

  • Provide new user training on supported applications as requested.

  • Own and support applications within the business portfolio and ensure secondary support coverage and training.

  • Minimize application support load by refining error management and triaging to first-level support.

  • Provide end-to-end IT coordination for all related activities and drive projects to successful completion.

  • Collaborate with other Business Units to identify and deliver enterprise value.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent training and experience.

  • 4+ years of IT and Business Systems Analysis experience, including requirements and business process definition and strong documentation.

  • Experience with development, implementation, and support of integrated business applications.

  • Proven end-to-end IT coordination and project support experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to solve complex problems independently and within teams.


Preferred Skills:



  • Background in supply planning and optimization; Energy domain experience is desirable.

  • Proficiency in SQL and data lake environments, including data modeling, querying, and analysis.

  • Experience importing data for reporting, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.

  • General knowledge of system development methodologies.

  • Experience with Microsoft development platforms including Azure DevOps.

  • Business Intelligence and Microsoft Power Platform experience.

  • Understanding of organizational goals and how technology solutions impact outcomes.

  • Collaboration with internal and external partners to deliver solutions.
