Summary

Job Summary We are seeking a COBOL Developer to design, enhance, and support complex mainframe applications within a financial domain. This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing legacy systems, ensuring high performance, and delivering enhancements aligned with business requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe technologies and experience working in Agile environments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop enhancements for mainframe-based business applications using COBOL Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize code Conduct code reviews to maintain quality, scalability, and efficiency Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and implement solutions Create technical documentation, including change records, testing results, and security impact analysis Define and establish test data and develop test plans Participate in unit testing, system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing Support and troubleshoot application issues and defects Provide production support during implementation and ongoing operations Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide regular status updates Manage code changes using mainframe change management tools Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) 1215+ years of experience in software engineering with strong COBOL development experience Experience with mainframe technologies including CICS, MVS/JCL, and DB2 Experience working in financial domain environments Familiarity with mainframe change management tools Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with lending systems and financial processes Experience with debugging tools such as Intertest or Expediter Familiarity with VSAM files in a mainframe environment Experience with issue tracking tools such as JIRA Exposure to regulatory requirements within financial systems Education: Bachelors Degree
