Summary

job summary:

We are seeking an outspoken, highly collaborative, and proactive Quality Engineering Coordinator to bridge the gap between our testing strategies and cross-functional project teams. In this role, you won't just be managing test cases-you will be the social hub of our quality initiatives.

We need someone who is naturally comfortable driving conversations, breaking down silos, and independently coordinating with diverse teams to document, organize, and execute comprehensive test plans. If you thrive in dynamic, communicative environments and possess a strong foundational knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), this is the role for you.

location: Telecommute

job type: Contract

salary: $35 - 40 per hour

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors

responsibilities:

Cross-Team Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between multiple project teams, development groups, and business stakeholders to align testing efforts.
  • Proactively engage with different teams to extract, understand, and document exactly what they will be executing during testing phases.
  • Facilitate test planning meetings, comfortably driving the agenda and ensuring all dependencies are uncovered.
Test Planning & SDLC Management
  • Design, document, and manage structured test plans, specifically utilizing Waterfall methodologies.
  • Map out clear testing scopes, timelines, and resource requirements based on project documentation.
  • Ensure all testing activities align smoothly with standard SDLC frameworks and compliance guidelines.
Reporting, Status Updates & Escalations
  • Take full ownership of testing metrics, compiling clear and concise status reports for project leadership.
  • Deliver confident, articulate updates during high-visibility project calls.
  • Craft professional, transparent email communications detailing testing progress, risks, and blockers.
  • Serve as the first line of defense for issue escalation, ensuring defects or delays are communicated immediately to the right stakeholders with proposed next steps.
Independent Execution
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy; you should be entirely comfortable managing your daily roadmap, tracking deliverables, and chasing down answers independently.

qualifications:

- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working within an IT Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Project Coordination environment.

- Cross-Team Coordination: At least 5 years of proven experience successfully managing or coordinating project deliverables across multiple distinct, multi-functional teams.

- Waterfall Methodology: Minimum of 5 years of deep, practical experience developing and executing structured Waterfall test plans, tracking project milestones, and managing phase-gate criteria.

Technical Skills

- SDLC Literacy: A strong, comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and QA's specific role within it.

- Excellent Documentation: Exceptional ability to translate complex, messy team conversations into crisp, structured, and auditable test plans and status reports.

- Tools: Proficiency with standard QA management tools (e.g., Jira, ALM, Azure DevOps) and standard corporate communication tools.

Soft Skills (Crucial for Success)

- Outspoken & Social: You genuinely enjoy talking to people, building relationships, and cross-examining project parameters to get the data you need.

- Strong Presenter: Comfortable speaking up in crowded project calls and commanding a room (or virtual meeting) during planning sessions.

- Proactive Problem Solver: You don't wait for information to come to you-you actively go find it.
