Job Title: Network Engineer III

work to be accomplished The Network Engineer III Cloud & Network Security will strengthen ability to deliver safe, secure, and reliable technology services by modernizing network architecture and improving the agency s overall security posture. This role ensures that network connectivity and firewall configurations protect systems, data, and the traveling public while enabling the secure migration of applications from on premises environments to cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Serving as a senior technical authority, the engineer will establish and enforce secure network standards, govern firewall access, and reduce risk across complex hybrid environments. By leveraging cloud native networking capabilities, improved segmentation, and modern security controls, this role will reduce attack surface, improve visibility, and increase resilience across enterprise network.
Minimum Yrs of Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
8 12 years of experience as a Network Engineer in large, complex enterprise or government environments.
Extensive experience designing, reviewing, and governing firewall and network security architectures.
Expert knowledge of networking and network security principles, including segmentation, routing, secure connectivity, and defense in depth.
Proven experience supporting hybrid on premises and multi cloud network environments.
Demonstrated ability to act as a technical authority and security advisor.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Familiarity with Texas DIR Shared Technology Services (STS).
Prior experience working for or supporting a State of Texas agency, preferably .
Experience with cloud networking and security in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure, or AWS.
Knowledge of DIR policies, state security standards, and compliance frameworks.
Experience supporting application modernization initiatives that improve security and resilience.
