CICS Systems Programmer

We are seeking a senior-level CICS Systems Programmer to support and enhance a large-scale mainframe transaction processing environment within a complex enterprise banking infrastructure. This role is focused on platform engineering, performance, reliability, and modernization of CICS regions not application development.

The ideal candidate brings deep z/OS expertise and hands-on experience managing high-volume, mission-critical transaction systems in a regulated financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade CICS Transaction Server environments across multiple LPARs
Support high-availability CICS regions handling large-scale online transaction workloads
Perform system-level tuning, performance analysis, and capacity planning
Troubleshoot complex system issues across CICS, z/OS, VTAM, TCP/IP, MQ, DB2, and related subsystems
Implement and manage CICSPlex environments and workload balancing
Support disaster recovery planning and execution
Apply system maintenance, PTFs, and version upgrades with minimal business disruption
Partner with security teams to implement RACF-based access controls and compliance requirements
Support application teams during production incidents and major releases
Contribute to automation initiatives (REXX, JCL, scripting, etc.)

Required Experience

7+ years of experience as a CICS Systems Programmer in large enterprise environments
Strong knowledge of:
z/OS internals
CICS TS installation and maintenance
CICSPlex SM
SMP/E
JCL and REXX
Experience supporting high-volume OLTP financial systems
Familiarity with MQ, DB2 connectivity, and network configuration within CICS
Experience with performance tuning and diagnostic tools

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in regulated banking or financial services environments
Exposure to mainframe modernization efforts or hybrid integration initiatives
Knowledge of DevOps processes within a mainframe ecosystem
Strong documentation and change control discipline
