Job Description
We are seeking a Data-Ops Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HDFS, Spark, Hive/Impala, Python, and workflow orchestration and a proven ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data ingestion and transformation pipelines across hybrid environments.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows across hybrid platforms.
- Manage job schedules and resolve ingestion and transformation failures.
- Optimize pipeline performance and address bottlenecks to meet SLAs.
- Contribute to CI/CD build and release pipelines and environment promotions.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks and implement health checks.
- Document operational run-books and drive incident triage, RCA, and remediation.
- Collaborate with release management and offshore teams to ensure platform stability.
- Provide concise status updates and communicate risks and mitigations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on expertise with HDFS, Spark, Hive/Impala, and Python data processing.
- Proficiency in debugging job failures, ingestion issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Experience with schedulers/orchestrators such as Airflow, Oozie, or ADF, and version control using Git.
- Familiarity with build/release pipelines in Azure DevOps or Jenkins and environment promotion practices.
- Incident management experience including triage, RCA, remediation, and on-call participation.
- Monitoring and alerting using Cloudera Manager, logs, and metrics with a focus on SLA and MTTR.
- Shell scripting and automation of operational tasks and health checks.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills for cross-team coordination.
- Basic knowledge of Azure/Databricks jobs, clusters, and storage integrations.
- Strong analytical thinking and documentation discipline.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data quality frameworks and validation rules.
- Knowledge of Delta Lake, checkpoints, and resilient patterns on Databricks.
- Exposure to security and compliance controls including RBAC, secrets, and audit.
- Familiarity with SRE practices such as error budgets and run-book automation.
