Senior VCF 9 Implementation Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 Implementation Engineer to lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of VMware Cloud Foundation environments for enterprise clients. This role requires deep expertise in VCF architecture, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, automation, and cloud infrastructure modernization initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing VCF from greenfield deployments through production operations, including workload domain design, storage integration, automation, disaster recovery, and migration activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment and configuration of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 environments.
- Deploy and configure VCF instances, management domains, workload domains, and clusters.
- Design, implement, and optimize vSAN clusters and vSAN Storage Clusters.
- Configure and support external storage platforms, VMFS datastores, and storage integrations.
- Implement and support VMware Live Site Recovery (VLSR) and Live Cyber Recovery (VLCR) solutions.
- Perform installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of:
- VMware vSphere
- vCenter Server
- VMware NSX
- VMware Aria Suite (Automation, Operations, Logs)
- SDDC Manager
- Collaborate with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) teams to develop and optimize automation strategies.
- Provide implementation guidance, best practices, and operational readiness recommendations.
- Assist customers with workload migration planning and execution.
- Help identify use cases and adoption strategies for vSAN Storage Clusters and modern software-defined infrastructure.
- Conduct environment assessments and develop architecture recommendations.
- Support platform upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
- Create technical documentation, deployment runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, storage, networking, and virtualization issues.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of VMware infrastructure engineering experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying and administering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
- Experience implementing or supporting VCF 5.x, 8.x, or VCF 9 environments.
- Strong expertise with:
- VMware vSphere
- VMware ESXi
- VMware vCenter
- VMware vSAN
- VMware NSX
- SDDC Manager
- Experience deploying and managing workload domains and management domains.
- Experience with storage technologies including:
- vSAN ESA
- vSAN OSA
- VMFS
- SAN/NAS platforms
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
- Experience with infrastructure automation using:
- PowerCLI
- Terraform
- Ansible
- Git-based workflows
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization layers.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale environments (500+ hosts preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VCF Automation, Aria Automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.
- Knowledge of:
- VMware HCX
- VMware Avi Load Balancer
- Kubernetes / Tanzu
- VMware Private AI Foundation
- Experience with cloud integrations including:
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and ransomware recovery architectures.
- Experience leading implementation projects and mentoring junior engineers.
