Level-2 Hardware Production Quality Engineer

About the Role

As a Hardware Production Quality Engineer, you will partner with Material Program Managers (MPMs) and Production Quality Program Managers (QPMs) to ensure high-quality delivery of hardware products across diverse development and sustainment programs. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, production, and quality teams to evaluate hardware performance, drive corrective actions, and implement modern quality and manufacturing practices. This role requires strong technical problem-solving ability, initiative, and the capability to quickly ramp up on complex hardware product lines and quality assurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify root causes, define corrective actions, and evaluate process and product performance to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
• Analyze production defects, disposition nonconforming hardware, and identify systemic trends to drive process improvement.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement preventive actions and influence quality-related decisions.
• Drive lessons learned initiatives and incorporate emerging technologies to improve Quality operations.
• Provide input to Quality Program Managers for labor estimates on Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and ongoing proposal efforts.
• Participate in hardware change control boards as required.
• Validate system compliance to 100% of requirements and present hardware to customer representatives for acceptance.
• Support the rollout of advanced manufacturing capabilities including additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and lean manufacturing practices.
• Operate on the production floor and collaborate closely with operations personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality management standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with hardware engineering requirements, design processes, system integration, and testing.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and hardware engineering workflows.
• Ability to read and write English and work effectively in a production-floor environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience working on Department of Defense (DoD) contracts.
• Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
• Knowledge of IPC-610/620 and J-STD-001 standards.
• Experience interfacing directly with government customer representatives.
• Hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, data analytics, and computer-aided inspection.
• Experience implementing predictive quality methodologies.
• Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) experience.
