Job Title: Principal Data Scientist Load & Renewable Generation Forecasting

Location: Juno Beach, FL

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of advanced forecasting models for Load, Solar, and Wind generation. This role is critical to supporting real-time decision-making across energy management, power marketing, and system operations.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in time-series forecasting, machine learning, and scalable data pipelines, with proven experience delivering production-grade solutions in cloud environments such as AWS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end development of forecasting models from concept to production deployment
  • Develop models for load, solar, and wind generation forecasting
  • Perform advanced feature engineering, including weather data integration via APIs
  • Build scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch forecasting
  • Deploy models into production with monitoring, alerting, and recovery mechanisms
  • Design and implement automated retraining and performance evaluation frameworks
  • Integrate solutions with internal systems and AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Develop interactive dashboards (Streamlit/Plotly) for stakeholder insights
  • Collaborate with trading, operations, and engineering teams in Agile environments

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Data Science / Machine Learning roles
  • Advanced proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels)
  • Proven experience with time-series forecasting models (ARIMA, SARIMAX, Gradient Boosting)
  • Hands-on experience with model deployment and MLOps practices
  • Experience integrating weather APIs and external data sources
  • Strong knowledge of AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker)
  • Experience with SQL and large-scale data processing
  • Experience building dashboards using Streamlit, Plotly, or similar tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in renewable energy or energy markets
  • Knowledge of probabilistic forecasting and uncertainty quantification
  • Experience with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence)

Technical Skills:

  • Time-Series Forecasting & Model Evaluation (MAE, RMSE, MAPE)
  • Feature Engineering (weather data, domain-specific signals)
  • Data Pipelines & ETL
  • Version Control (Git)
  • Cloud & Infrastructure (AWS)
