  • Lead design for manufacturability and design for assembly reviews with manufacturing engineering
  • Write test protocols, perform product testing and document results
  • Conduct pressure, load, pull, material, environmental, and cycle testing as required
  • Support product certification and compliance with applicable AWWA, NSF and ASTM standards
  • Troubleshoot fit, tolerance, assembly and performance issues on the production floor
  • Investigate nonconformances, scrap and quality escapes related to product design
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts when products fail during testing or in the field
  • Evaluate components and recommend design adjustments based on performance, quality and customer needs
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding product requirements and customization requests
  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, Manufacturing and Quality to balance customer expectations, production capabilities and performance standards
  • Review supplier drawings and technical specifications for outsourced components
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities through material substitution, design simplification and other product improvements

Product Engineer IV Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least seven years of product engineering experience within industrial manufacturing
  • Strong background in product design, customization, component evaluation and product testing
  • Experience designing products that incorporate metal, rubber and plastic components
  • Expertise in multiple manufacturing disciplines such as rubber, fabrication, forming, coatings, castings or machining
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Strong technical writing and engineering documentation skills
  • Experience managing BOMs, tolerances, specifications, ECRs and ECOs
  • Working knowledge of design validation, process validation, DFM and DFA principles
  • Strong project management, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to develop practical, creative solutions to complex engineering problems
  • Confidence communicating with customers and employees at every level of an organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Benefits:
