Director, Data and Insights_Corporate Vendor Management

Our Opportunity:

Corporate Vendor Management at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. Corporate Vendor Management identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.

Role Overview:

The Director, Data & Insights, will be responsible for leading a team accountable for all analytical needs of the Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) program. This includes providing analytical consulting and delivering data-driven insights to drive strategic engagement with CVM's stakeholders and help leadership make business decisions. Key areas of responsibility for the Data & Insights team include data analysis and visualization, data quality and governance, ownership of and roadmap for the underlying platforms, business-led development, and creating and maintaining operational metrics and dashboards to deliver insights and impact to our stakeholders.

The Director will model Schwab's leadership imperatives:

  • Connect team objectives to Schwab's strategy to inspire your team to take action.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize the work that achieves the greatest impact for the firm.
  • Collaborate with others to break down barriers and accomplish shared goals.
  • Embrace challenges with courage and model resiliency to seize new opportunities.
  • Communicate with care, kindness, and clarity to create a space where everyone can do their best work.
  • Develop yourself and others through coaching, feedback, and growth expectations.
  • Promote curiosity, seek continuous feedback, and encourage bold perspectives to challenge the status quo.

Key Outcomes:

  • Lead a team of experienced data analysis, visualization, reporting, data governance and automation professionals to deliver timely, accurate, relevant, and value-added information to a range of stakeholders and executive decision makers.
  • Work closely with business partners to build a strong, well defined engagement model that ensures optimal project scoping, prioritization, and execution to deliver business impact while balancing risk.
  • Manage relationships and support resources to gain alignment across partners in Schwab's Technology, Data, and Risk organizations.
  • Measure and communicate the impact of the team's work to ensure it is accessible, impactful, and drives business results.
  • Partner with CVM functional leaders to determine their enterprise analytics and reporting needs and create solutions to meet these needs.
  • Lead efforts to further mature and strengthen the CVM data governance and data quality program, including the creation of automated controls to monitor data quality.
  • Lead the automation of CVM core operational metrics, to support business planning and aid leadership decision making.
  • Further mature robust analytics and reporting around third party risk, spend, and savings.
  • Leverage data to identify areas of opportunity, methods for increased efficiency and business partner experience.
  • Capitalize on opportunities to use analytics tools available at Schwab; develop a perspective on the tools and technology required to deliver and build support for required future investments.
  • Mature processes and procedures to support ongoing, agile delivery, including the use of Jira and other tools.
  • Coordinate and support the use of Business-Led Development and Business-Led Analytics (RPA) tools and approaches in CVM, including any necessary governance requirements.
  • Act as a consultant to provide recommendations to the CVM leadership team, based on data, analysis, and business implications.
  • Champion the use of AI in CVM where appropriate and impactful.
  • Accountable for the ownership of the CVM database, responsible for developing a vision to modernize the platforms and data pipeline over time.
  • Ensure end results are of the highest quality with a quantifiable business benefit, and all activities and efforts are consistent with Schwab policies and guidelines.
  • Support other ad-hoc requests, as needed.
