Embedded Systems Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Wayland region seeking Embedded Systems Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement firmware for manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded systems in production environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate and test new control systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for embedded software and systems.
  • Optimize existing embedded systems for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate in the full product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in hardware-software integration and debugging using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet) relevant to industrial automation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to design robust, reliable embedded systems for factory environments.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
  • Proficiency in hardware debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers).
