Opengear is expanding its DevOps capability to support the development of our next-generation networking appliances and software platforms. We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help maintain and evolve our hybrid cloud and on-prem build and test infrastructure, as well as future SaaS endeavors.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain and evolve our existing cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure
  • Maintain our hybrid CI infrastructure and improve build/test environment reliability
  • Support engineering teams by providing tooling, guidance, and environment stability
  • Develop automation and optimize resource utilization to reduce infrastructure costs
  • Own monitoring, observability, and alerting across our infrastructure - ensuring issues are caught early and incidents are resolved quickly
  • Champion security best practices across the infrastructure - including IAM policies, secrets management, and vulnerability management
  • Continuously improve our development and deployment processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency
  • Maintain SaaS infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and raising the team's overall capability

Who You Are and What You Bring

  • 5 years in a DevOps role
  • Deep Understanding of the software development lifecycle and CI/CD processes, with hands on experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions
  • Proven experience with AWS, familiarity with Azure is a plus
  • Proven experience with Kubernetes
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Solid System administration skills including user management, security hardening, OS installation, patching, and system monitoring
  • Experience with networking fundamentals - VPCs, DNS, load balancers, VPNs, and firewalls
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, or similar
  • Security-conscious mindset with experience managing IAM, least-privilege access, and secrets management
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams

Desired But Not Required

  • Experience with Azure in addition to AWS
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tooling
  • Experience with cost management

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $95,000 - $149,000. Pay ranges are determined by role, job level and primary job location. The range displayed reflects the reasonable range we anticipate paying for this position and reflects the cost of labor within several U.S. geographic markets. The specific salary offered within the range will depend on various factors including, but not limited to the candidate's relevant and prior experience, education, skills, and primary work location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each position. Pay ranges are typically reviewed and updated annually.
